Swisstudy privacy commitments

Swisstudy protects personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This policy explains which personal data we process, for what purposes, and the measures we take to keep it secure.

Swisstudy is a Lausanne-based project that supports international students who want to study in Switzerland. Until the incorporation process is completed, the founding team remains responsible for complying with applicable data protection rules.

We process the personal data you share on our website or during consultations, including:

• Full name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Nationality or country of residence
• Education details (school, programme, diploma, and similar information)

We may also gather non-identifying statistics such as IP address, browser type, and navigation behaviour through cookies and analytics tools like Google Analytics.

We process your data solely for clearly defined purposes, including:

• Assessing your academic profile and recommending suitable advisory services
• Communicating with you about study opportunities or service packages
• Sending newsletters, updates, and promotions when you provide consent
• Analysing, developing, and optimising our website and services

Data is only processed to the extent necessary and in line with the principle of data minimisation.

Depending on the context, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Your explicit consent when you voluntarily share information through our forms
• Steps required prior to entering into a contract for consultancy services

We use cookies and third-party analytics tools such as Google Analytics. Cookies are small text files stored on your device to improve functionality and remember your preferences.

Google Analytics data may be processed on servers outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area. Google applies recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for international transfers.

We do not sell or rent personal data. We may share data with trusted third parties only when necessary for:

• Providing analytics or communication services (e.g., Google)
• Meeting legal obligations

All service providers must handle your data securely and in compliance with data protection laws.

Some data may be transferred outside Switzerland, for example to the United States. In such cases, we implement appropriate safeguards such as recognised contractual clauses to ensure a comparable level of protection.

Personal data is kept only for as long as required to fulfil the purposes listed in this policy. Once the retention period expires, we securely delete or anonymise the data.

We apply suitable technical and organisational measures, including HTTPS encryption, secure servers, and restricted access. However, no internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
